Shooting from such close range can be surprising for the unwary.
Point Blank really allows the Legionari to be a nasty close combat unit against retaliating enemies. Precise Strike is less risky for allied units in the same zone who could become victims of friendly fire, but is less damaging as well.
Beware of cover and shields, these are still annoying factors to consider even though they are halved in case of close combat shooting.
